Featuring films about :

Marine Resources,

Ocean Recreation,

and our

Cultural Connections to the Sea

THE  OCEAN  IS  OUR  PLAYGROUND,

OUR  ICE BOX,

OUR  LIFE BLOOD

The Hawaii Ocean Film Festival combines the power of the ocean with the voices and
visions of people around the globe to express their love of the ocean.

Embracing culture and community, sport and spirit, the ocean theme opens the door for
interpretation of the environment, its issues and sciences, or water sports activities.

From below the sea, to the salty air above the wild surf, films at past events covered a
vast array of topics. Adventure stories, extreme sports, environmental documentaries,
and short films find an audience in Hawaii, and hopefully, around the world !

HUGE NEWS FOR Marine Resource Filmmakers !!!
The Society for Conservation Biology is sponsoring
the International Marine Conservation Conference in Washington DC.
On Opening Night the Smithsonian  Institution will be hosting a social event
to announce a new exhibition called the Ocean Hall.
The IMCC steering committee would like to show  marine conservation oriented
film at the event as well. We would like to propose that this be a joint event
between the Hawaii Ocean Film Festival
and the IMCC where the film we choose is one of the films that wins an award at
the Hawaii Ocean Film Festival.
